medXchange Implant has implemented a number of unique features to provide secure access, manage, track and certify medical information.

Access to the medXchange Integrated Electronic Medical Record, IEMR and health and medical management applications is strictly controlled through Electronic Access Keys. Two types of keys are used.

• The Professional Health Key identifies the physician or healthcare professional and acts as his electronic signature. The physician must identify himself with his Professional Health Key before he is given access to patient IEMR and can enter and update medical and health data.
• The Patient Health Key allows access to his confidential electronic medical records and documentation. The physician or healthcare professional must identify the Patient Health Key for each IEMR and patient medical documentation he wishes to consult or update.

• Industry standard SmartCard
• Industry standard USB Memory Key
• User ID and Password
• Mini CD-ROM

• The individual controls the access to his IEMR and medical and health documentation. He can issue his Patient Health Key to physicians and healthcare professionals of his choice.
• The individual can consult his IEMR and medical and health documentation by identifying himself with his Patient Health Key.
• The individual's medical data and documentation cannot be entered or updated without the identification of a physician or healthcare professional through the Professional Health Key.
• The individual's IEMR and medical and health documentation is kept confidential between the individual and the healthcare professional and is not accessible by third parties unless the individual divulges his Patient Health Key.

• All the individual's medical and health data and documentation is certified by the physician or healthcare professional who entered the data. The Professional Health Key acts as an electronic signature.
• All medical and health data and documentation in the individual's Integrated Electronic Medical Record, IEMR and other Electronic Medical Records held on the medXchange Meta Database can be traced to their source through the P rofessional Health Key.

• With the patients' permission, the physician can restrict access to sensitive medical documentation, physician notes and medical data. This data may only be accessed with the express permission of the physician.

• Both the idividual and the physician or healthcare professionals are notified by electronic message of updates to the individual's medical data and documentation on the medXchange Meta Database.
• This is allows immediate notification of electronic updates of:
• medical test and exam results
• automatic medical data updates through biosensors
• medical data updates through self monitoring programs
• consulting physician or second opinion reports
